So John, how does it feel to have invented the most popularist art website of your entire generation?
It makes me feel like my balls are really big and that I could totally get any girl I wanted- wait, I got her already... Um, I guess just big balls then.

Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the success of your project?
How could I feel overwhelmed by its success? If it were truly successful, I'd big out skating right now instead of answering these questions trying to get more people to it.

Fecal Face started as a zine, right? Does that trip you out?
It was a zine first and even though I love huffing glue, I'm much more of a balding computer/ art nerd so computers fit my pocket protector better.

What was your zine all about? Do you still have copies laying around your house?
I have some stuffed in a box somewhere. It was great. There were tons of shitty photos of mine. I'd walk around my neighborhood interviewing corner store guys and take photos of my friends drinking beer. I just like making stuff.

You also do work for I-Path, right? I heard they piss test there. Is that correct?
Well, I'm wrecked on the weed right now. My shirt is being hung dried out back because I just tie died it. Our website is made from hemp.

How come those bikes without freewheels are so popular with the artsy crowd.
I'm so trendy, but seriously, it's great. I love learning new shit and it was fun to learn how to hook up my bike and slide about town, but that shit's gay... I'm learning how to sail now. Now that Fecal Face is so huge, I've gone sailing with my blonde bombshell on the San Francisco Bay... It's so much fun. We're getting into racing it this summer- our crappie ass boat. It cost us $850. We're ghetto sailers for now.

Where are you originally from? Do you ever miss it?
Toledo, Ohio. I've been living in SF for so long now, I done forgot what it was like. I do miss the seasons though. It sucks that there aren't any change in weather markers to guage your year.

Were you into the movie "Rad" when you were a little shit?

Do you think Jeremy Fish secretly has a staff of underpaid interns creating his work. All Jeff Koons style? (editor's note: I actually have no idea what Jeff Koon's employees take home after taxes.)
My girlfriend saw him the other day in the lower Haight and described him this way- I think it best sums him up in terms of his work ethic... "he was walking really fast carrying boxes with a super serious facial expression". That makes no sense. Sorry, Jeremy.

You're a photographer and videographer in addition to being a programmer, correct? Do you feel like that makes you pretty smart? I do.
I got so nervous when I took my SATS that I got a 900. Either that or I'm not so bright.

How come the internet is so darn awesome?
It's a hungry hungry beast. It never sleeps. It's like a 9 month old or something.

What's your favorite skateboard video of all times?
Barbarians at the Gate- It made me cry. I wish I was joking.

Who is your favorite photographer of all times?
Skate? I'd say Tobin was pretty sweet. I also was a big Dawes fan. It was a highlight to get offered a job at Slap- well, until I had to work with Jon E.

What's your favorite photograph from a skateboard magazine?
There were a lot of great J. Lee photos. Those old Stereo days were the best.

Have you ever done a backside 180 melancholy? If so, what was it down, across, or over?
In Toledo they used to convert this hockey rink in the summer as a skate park. Some nights they'd have bands play on one half and have skating on the other. The night that Fugazi played I got so excited that I went off the launch ramp going to grab Melon and tore my finger nail almost all the way off. It sucked but it was a great night before that happened.

If you haven't ever done a backside 180 melancholy, what is some other rad shit you did when you were a younger man?
I almost kick flipped b/s tailslide down hubba years before Diego did it. It just slid away from me at the last second... I got a check out in Transworld because of it. Josh Kalis filmed it. That was a highlight even though I didn't pull it.

What's your favorite beer?
A couple of winters ago it rained like crazy for a couple months. One day me and Eric Warren said fuck it, got in the car and headed north trying to get out of the rain. It looked like if we drove for 2 hours north we'd escape the rain. On the way we stumbled across the Mendpcino Brewing Company and I discovered the Blue Heron Ale. What if you had a TV show on MTV and it was you and John Goodman trying to open up a used car dealership? Would that be any good?
I'd like it if we sat and drank beers and watched people walk by. We wouldn't speak really and I'd always have some sort of new cut on my face. John Goodman would kinda be gay and would try and pick up on girls that were way too young as they walked to and from school. It'd be great.

Is there anything you'd like to say to the younger generation of art dork skateboarders who might be reading this?
Go to college and be a doctor. Either that, or say fuck it, and save up money for a couple years and spend the rest of your life traveling around the world. Life's too short.

Do you ever feel like shit? I do sometimes.
You should have seen me Sunday. I was so drunk the night before that I was digging in the dirt for no reason and then tried to sleep in the ocean. Kids, beer is for professionals and shots of Fernet can be dangerous. I still feel off two days later... Oh, and always drink enough water before going to bed.
