In the end of 2008, the artists OSGEMEOS were opening their second solo show in Brazil, and the first since 2006, at a Museum in the city of Curitiba. We heard about that show months earlier, but we realized about the real date one week before the opening. Lucas and I were still living in Porto Alegre and decided to go to the show three nights before, so we got two more friends on the car, and left for a 15 hours road trip.
This show, called Vertigem, was the first of a series OSGEMEOS did, hosted in the cities of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Brasília in the following years. Usually people don’t pay much attention to what happens outside São Paulo and Rio, so the Curitiba show was not much mentioned in the media across the country and almost nobody saw pictures of it. Searching for old photos on my computer I found this file of pictures from this show, never published and never saw by anyone. It's not new material, but I totally think it deserves a post here. So, here it is: the 2008 Vertigem show by OSGEMEOS.

Hey. My name is Ana Ferraz and I’m a new contributor from São Paulo here at Fecal Face. I run a gallery called Fita Tape, in Porto Alegre, southern region of Brazil, together with my husband Lucas Ribeiro “Pexão”. We are currently showing a solo exhibition by Rimon Guimarães, one of our favorite young artists from Brazil. Friend and FF contributor Tristan Rault is also showing the artist at his gallery in Buenos Aires, Argentina, so I think it’s the perfect moment to introduce you to the work of Rimon.
Rimon is a young and talented artist from Curitiba, Brazil. His artwork often shows organic traces, hybrid forms and bold characters in a beautiful and unique style. Rimon’s first interests on art came from comic books/manga and graffiti, but now he also seeks influences on primitive art, Maya culture and botanic illustrators, such as Ferdnad Bauer and Ernest Haeckel. “I’m influenced by everything around me. I’m hyper sensible, that’s why I like to have a great contact with nature. Nature organization is a huge influence”, he says.
Rim’s works can be seen in the streets and in exhibitions, as the solo “Madrugada” (2007), Polinesia gallery and Laboratório Objeto Escarlate, Espaço +SOMA (2010), in Sao Paulo; “Voluvel” (2008) together with Pjota at the Parana’s MAC, in Curitiba; the group shows TRANSFER (2008 and 2010, in Porto Alegre and São Paulo) and Art Trek 7 (2010, Belgium) and currently in two solo exhibitions, Maré Plena, Fita Tape gallery (Porto Alegre) and Descalzo, |/_ gallery (Buenos Aires).
As an artist, Rimon is also member of the Interlux collective, a group of friends/artists/musicians/philosophers/activists who promote actions related to the urban space, with a situationist inspiration. Interlux actions create an atmosphere that involves and engage other people, in unusual performances. “Our first actions seemed like crazy parties”, he explains.
Besides Interlux, he works along three friends on Banzai Studio, a multidisciplinary creative studio, mixing commercial and personal projects on motion design, illustration, film, graffiti, and so on. With Banzai, Rim worked with clients as MTV, Listen Skateboards and Pernod Ricard. He also had a Nike SB limited shoe, together with the skateboarder Rodrigo Petersen, and works closely with the up and coming Brazilian skateboard shoes brand Öus.

Thanks to Arrested Motion who posted some info on Dave Kinsey's solo show Lost For Words which opens at FFDG in San Francisco on Friday, May 18th (6-9pm). This will be his first show in San Francisco in 12 years. RSVP.

The Asian Art Museum opens their grand first contemporary show PHANTOMS OF ASIA with a massive preview party this evening with DJs, food, and other goodies 7:30pm - midnight ~details
We went to the press preview yesterday and should have some photos to share, but time constraints due to preparations for our show w/ Dave Kinsey opening Friday and the lack of a mayor Ed Lee which all were waiting for... Well, we had to bail before they let us preview the show... What we've seen online looks great and tonight should be a blast. See you there.

Director of the documentary film DRAGONSLAYER --> DRAGONSLAYER is a documentary about the skateboarder Josh "Skreech" Sandoval. He's a character and the film follows his many ups and downs dealing with young parenthood, competing, and relationships. However, rather then try and make some type of statement about him, it just presents him objectively in the way that he is through wonderful cinematography.

| Interview with Jeff Depner
Whether conceptually motivated or intuitively created, the process of painting has been a main attribute in art for sometime now. Controlling the surface of a canvas is at the root of most contemporary painting. Vancouver native Jeff Depner's work creates avenues for visual discovery through a process based aesthetic. Layers upon layers of paint each relating to the next. Masking some, if not all, of the past creates a visual history within. The work ebbs and flows between graphic qualities and thick painterly styles with muted but contemporary feeling colors. The constant process of 'improvised moves' allows some of the work to be based in grid like structures. It allows some of the smaller paintings a chance for inquiry in constructive qualities and aspects of painting, inserting his work into the long history of painting.
