Yes. I was born and raised here. I stayed in London for a year (2003); that's when I met you.
Turkey is good, Turkey is happening, Turkey is new! The art scene is fragmented, anarchic, and fearless and incomparable and non-measurable?
I wait and wait. Then I attack. Then, I say Im sorry I made a mistake. Then, I erase, then I re-attack until it feels right or comfortably wrong.
I intended to work on bigger sizes parallel to the name and concept of my first solo exhibition: Debut. I wished to make a big debut, I guess :) And it was also a brand new experience for me to paint on plywood measuring 2 meters in height.
It took about two years to finish all the paintings for the exhibition, I usually work on many paintings at the same time.
I start late at night until the morning glory.
Not so much artist friends here! Most of them are designers! My best friend is a film director! You should see his movie called "toz / dust" www.filim.org
I do graphic design. I used to work in a big ad agency. I had big clients such as Istanbul Modern Art Museum also vitra. These pay the bills then I still find time to paint after all these big clients and busy hours!
Painting, eating, sex, Painting, eating, sex, Painting, eating, sex...
We had a big exhibition in Barcelona CCB called "place project" and now it's travelling all around the world... had some shows in Australia with Antipoda, and I also contributed the ART FAIR 2007 in Cologne, Germany. And I hope one day in USA.
Last week I got some interviews, it's hard for me to talk about my art! Maybe it's because I've studied Graphic design! Nothing much to say about my art... had an interview with a TV show called FlipFlop I was supposed to talk about my exhibiton D E B U T but I started to talk about my graphic design projects! It was a confusing interview.
Yes, it is actually! I was born and raised in a town called Adana on the coast of the Mediterranean! We have a summer house near the sea so it was a routine of my life during those days.
I would draw using a pencil on paper. Then I would give my scribblings to girls. It didnt have the impact I was going for. But, I figured I could draw.
Sunshine and late breakfasts
To go abroad!...London, Japan, U.S. In Turkey, every man should do his army service after he has graduated from the university. And I didnt yet! I got a "military obligation" to finish and am not allowed to leave the country for the moment.
My girl friend has two cats! Once, I was drunken and went to her flat, she fell asleep! And I was sooo boreeed! I Start to play with the cats! Suddenly I come up with an idea to be a mother cat and wanted to love them like how a mother cat embraces their child!! J))) I start to spit at my hand and wanted to make cats feel like their mother is licking them! Suddenly, my girl friend woke up while a long spit was going to the cats face... ooops! Sorry for the cat lovers! I am ashamed of what I did!eheheh sorry! This story sounds like a movie scene in which Ben Stiller or Paul Giamatti is acting.
Paints and varnishes. I also should get knee-pads to make my days better. My knees hurt from kneeling on my works.
