There's one phrase that several Nob Hill residents and artists have used to sum up Babylon Falling's final show, and that's "bitter-sweet". The independent bookstore will close its doors for good at the end of June. "The End is Near", indeed.
Honestly, it's been a real pleasure dropping by every now and then to shoot the shows at Babylon Falling. In previous reports, I noted how impressed I was by the receptions, the studio visit videos, and the sheer awesomeness of my two favorite things mingling in the same space: books and art (..for a nerd like myself, it's difficult to behave oneself in such a space).
For this report, I also had a difficult time whittling the photo selection down to my usual 20-25 pics. So I eventually gave up and let it be. Thus, this is a robust report with 40 images. Perhaps not all are my best, but none-the-less, I felt they were all appropriate for this final salute to Babylon Falling.
"The End is Near" boasts one hell of an artist lineup that can't be missed. It includes C3 (pictured above), David Choong Lee, Christopher Burch, Buz Blurr, David Young V, David Ball, Shaun Roberts (Babylon Falling's in-house photographer), and more.
As a party-favor, Shaun Roberts put together a free give-away dvd (with menus!), complete with every studio visit video, and photograph, shot at the past two years' art receptions.

And Christopher Burch's installation. I love how this piece wraps around the wall.

Damn, these are cool. And they're so glossy!

And here we leave off, wishing everyone the best. Cheers to a great space, cool people, and awesome art!
