We get a lot of great emails from a lot of talented people introducing us to their work. From time to time we'll be sharing their work here in our mini interviews segment... To be considered for a mini interview send a few jpegs to: mini(at)fecalface.com
Make sure the images are at least 600 pixels in width.
I haven't quite figured out yet how to describe all my work correctly. A lot of my most recent work I would say has something to do with the connections us humans have with nature or the animalistic qualities in a persons' character. It changes, but that would be the basic theme for right now.
Influences?
Well, people, animals, nature, human perception, time, skateboarding, music, silence, and everything else that exists that I have ever known.
Describe your process for creating a new piece.
If I have something in mind I want to do, I usually just get started without having much of a plan. I never sketch anything out or have my ideas completely figured out before I start, but I usually work all that out as I go along, and the piece evolves into something. The process is my favorite part and is what excites me, much more than the finished product.
Day job?
No day job. I tried all summer to find a job, no one would hire me, not even ‘In-N-Out Burger. So I've just been making some t-shirts, to try making a little money.
Best thing that happened to you this week?
Got a new computer.
Tools of the trade?
Acrylic paint, brushes, micron pens, ink, maybe some spray paint, colored pencil, but never graphite pencil.
Upcoming?
I'm starting school at the San Francisco Art Institute in a couple weeks––which means moving out of the house finally.
The best and worse thing about Fecal Face?
There are too many good things. The worst thing would probably be this interview.

///////// His style is very eclectic and whimsical but I definitely see a lot of potential. He had a few really strong pieces but his style is more or less consistent. I sound like I'm qualified to critique his work, but I'm really just sitting in a cubicle at work. Good work and good luck in Art School. I myself just completed my first year at The Art Institute of California - Orange County and I'm 28!!!! Good to get started young...if I only had a time machine! A follow-up interview would be great for this guy. Written by Sicky McFacepunch on 2008-10-07 13:46:14
///////// I really love that someone at 17 can be so in love with the process without destroying the potential for a great final project. I also think its great when someone, espescially a developing artist, isn't so hooked on the end result-- a love for the process promotes future works better than any one successful piece.
I love the discussion his pieces seem to have with one another. You see recurring themes of animals, and hidden human interaction, there's this great depth of character and a soft (or not so soft) tension in all his works, but each piece reflects these themes differently and strongly, supporting the imagery in the other works. A really strong portfolio; I also would love to see the evolution of his work in a year. Written by ut_pictura on 2008-10-07 17:14:13
///////// I'm actually smoking weed in the forest right now, and can't stop staring at the seventh one down. A bear just ate my leg, but I don't need it anymore because I am in love. Written by Reynard on 2008-10-09 00:59:27
