Our pal Mike Aho gave us (Travis Millard & Mel Kadel) a ring a while ago, and asked to come help him out on a video for his new ((Sounder)) record, so naturally we said "sure thing!". Little did we know it would require several costume changes and some intense dance moves. We're not ones to back down from a challenge, so Mel and I headed down to Mike's to shake our butts on a green screen. Then Aho took the footage and performed some wizardry that I won't even attempt to explain. This is the 3rd video in a series he is producing for the release of "Good Things Come and Go Like Bad Things", ((Sounder))'s 2nd record.

This is the third installation of the ((sounder)) Directors Collaboration Project a series of 5 videos premiering ever month throughout the spring and summer of 2008. Featured artist/directors are Michael Sieben, Mel Kadel, Todd Bratrud, Travis Millard and Dave Bryant.
We got in a little late and stayed up on the suds in Mike's backyard... not much evidence of that.
Soon after, we got an early wake up call from the young Plum, singing a made-up song that sounded a little like a cross between 'Smoke on the Water' and 'I Wanna New Drug'. The kid's got talent.
We headed over to the spot and got right to work. Mike had things ready to roll and explained what was happening. For my part, I interjected my big ideas about how things should be instead.
((Sounder))'s percussive powerhouse, Mr. Steve Stratton showed up for his close up.
While he was getting his part pounded out, Mel and I dug through the costume bag.
Mel ripped up the stage next...
I suggested perhaps utilizing the fisheye lens and some real gnarly flare filters and vaseline on the lens, and maybe a trippy tie-dye background, but mike didn't say much about it.
It was time to blow off a little steam, so we went out for burritos. ... they had real nice tables.
While we waited, Mike and I started passing a book back and forth and tried to whip out a speedy-burrito-collab before lunch showed up.
After a brief digestion, I started shaking up the lunch in my gut for the camera.
We each played a few characters, and one of the tasks was to balance on a slowly rotating motorized thingy, and do one complete 360 degree turn. I was not so graceful.
Kelly and Plum rolled through...
Kelly got her freak on.
Plum pulled out her best moves and cool tricks.
I was impressed. The kid's got talent. Thought it might be the shoes, but they didn't fit.
After all the fun, Mike chained his eyeballs to the computer for a week and started cranking it all out. I supplied a couple background drawings...
