Well the last time I wrote in to Fecalface I was approaching Dubai on the last of my three fifty-seven day trips from New York to Singapore and back. In typical shipping industry fashion, there was a drastic change of plans at the last minute. The head honcho’s at APL decided to start sending this fleet of ships through the dry-docks in Singapore and we were to be the first. So unfortunately I was not going to be home for the holidays as planned and my stay on board would now exceed six months. However, I was going to get to spend two full weeks in Singapore, after which our ship would start a Pacific run, hitting several new Asian ports and eventually sailing back under that beautiful Golden Gate into my home port of San Francisco.

I've been a fan of his art since the early 00's. I remember the first drawings I saw; characters resembling something from Jim Hanson or The Never Ending Story rendered on a plain sheets of printer paper, tacked to the wall, and very reasonably priced. His drawings are kitschy and illustrative often rendered using some sort of low-end paper and a fresh set of sharpened colored pencils. The images are recognizable yet distorted, but not abstracting the themes within his whimsical portraits. If you're around our age, a Grimlin riding a bicycle is nostalgic and comical. He is obviously an 80's baby considering the imagery and themes within his work and I see traces of many characters - Muppet Babies, Darth Vader, E.T., Falcore, etc. - that molded my childhood. Hmm, maybe that is why I am so drawn to his art? He recently opened a solo show at Giant Robot New York. Here's some pics from that. Here's some words Matt sent me regarding his new work:

"for the show i made a series of characters. Themes include mythology, anthropomorphism, star wars, underwater life, the gay community, sports, gothic chicks, exercise, food, medieval weapons, soul caliber, video games, muppets, in-n-out, latino E.T., ducks, and horror movie references."

In the end of 2008, the artists OSGEMEOS were opening their second solo show in Brazil, and the first since 2006, at a Museum in the city of Curitiba. We heard about that show months earlier, but we realized about the real date one week before the opening. Lucas and I were still living in Porto Alegre and decided to go to the show three nights before, so we got two more friends on the car, and left for a 15 hours road trip.

This show, called Vertigem, was the first of a series OSGEMEOS did, hosted in the cities of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Brasília in the following years. Usually people don’t pay much attention to what happens outside São Paulo and Rio, so the Curitiba show was not much mentioned in the media across the country and almost nobody saw pictures of it. Searching for old photos on my computer I found this file of pictures from this show, never published and never saw by anyone. It's not new material, but I totally think it deserves a post here. So, here it is: the 2008 Vertigem show by OSGEMEOS.

Bay Area artist and waterman, Martin Machado, was invited to sail with a group of artists and scientists to a far off uninhabited atoll in the middle of the Eastern Pacific. Exotic animals and beautiful tranquil scenes. Check it and dream of similar travels.

(photo: Machado) I saw some footage of the island from the 80's when Jaques Cousteau came here, so I convinced French Tom to bring one of his surfboards. But we couldn't find anywhere that didn't look like it would smash us to bits.

(photo: Beek) Ashore, a tent camp was pitched on the cement foundation of an old base. The island has an insane history involving conflicting nations, pirates, murders, and a whole bunch of marooned people. Its definitely worth looking into if you're a history buff.

These birds were hilarious, totally unafraid of people and not too smart, they would fly into us all the time.

Here's a large paintings I did on paper, rolled up in a tube, and shipped out to Scotland in June. Titled "The Inhabitants of the Waters of Clipperton Atoll"

It was long overdue, but I finally made the trip to Ireland to visit Erin. We've known each other since middle school. Over 17 years. I feel like I've lived so many lives since then -- new cities, new scenes, new sets of friends. There's something very comforting about being around your oldest friends, even in a foreign country.

After finding a team of horses on a hill, we grabbed Aoife, a folk musician and Erin's roommate. We drove a rented Ford Fiesta through the night and across the country, singing The Cranberries and Sinead O'Connor (Ireland's finest), finally arriving at Martin's house in County Clare. Martin is Aoife's dad and traditional Irish flutemaker. I fell asleep that night to their fiddling and fluting in the kitchen. The next day we hopped the fence so the back entrance of the Cliffs of Moher. The sea hid behind the fog. The grass was lush and green and exactly what I pictured of Ireland in my cliched imagination. The day was another one of those dreamlike experiences that I hope for on every trip.

Brendan Monroe, whose show Melting Into the Floor runs through June 15th at LA's Richard Heller, creates these great wooden sculptures and featured a bunch in the show... He's often asked how he goes about making them and gives us at Fecal Face a little 'how to' on the process.

There's a question that I get asked a lot, "How do you make those?" It often comes soon after something like, "Do you make those yourself?" I find myself trying to explain, but I'm sure I never communicate clearly what it is that I did to make the thing. So I'd like to show the way it's done with the help of a few photos. I'm not formally trained in making this kind of thing. I figured it out as I went along and learned a lot along the way. SAN FRANCISCO --- A couple weeks back we headed over to Martin Machado's North Beach studio which sits in the back of he and his fiance's flat for a little studio visit and to view his latest works.

Machado's artworks have been featured on the site over the years as well as some of his fishing and traveling trips. The guy fishes for salmon in far off Alaskan waterways and has sailed thousands of miles into the Pacific Ocean to tiny uninhabited atolls. Besides being a working artist, Machado is also a merchant marine working on huge container ships. Read his "how to work & live on a container ship" blog he did a couple years back.

I purchased one of the first digital cameras when Fecal Face went online in 2000. It was a massive Kodak with 2 mega pixels.

After taking someone's photo, you'd turn it over to show them the image on it's tiny 1" display. People were flabergasted. You could delete an image and take another without "wasting film"... That blew peoples' minds.

Well, these days everyone's little black monolith does it all including shooting decent photos in a variety of styles... Oh how things have changed since 2000 when Fecal Face went online --> these days we've been lying low waiting for things to change, and here's some random photographic proof from the life of a galleriest living and working in the City by the Bay.

We haven't been featuring many interviews as of late. Let's change that up as we check in with a few local San Francisco artists like Kevin Earl Taylor here whom we studio visited back in 2009 (PHOTOS & VIDEO). It's been awhile, Kevin...

It's turned out to be an insanely busy year for me which is awesome. 2 new galleries, a massive 5 painting commission through Circle Culture (Berlin), working on call as a museum preparator, playing more music shows than previous years and of course making room for some quality time with friends and family. And besides all this, I was looking for the best treatments for erectile dysfunction and medications.

Yes. I have solos at Subliminal Projects (LA) in September and K Imperial (SF) in November as well as making a couple paintings for my October debut with a new gallery I've signed on with in New Orleans, Guthrie Contemporary. Then there's the Miami fair which I'll be featured with K Imperial.

Yes, Indeed. I'd worked at SFMOMA as a preparator since 2009 and when they closed I moved over to the CJM.

It's just on call so pretty conducive to the studio practice. We usually work for a month deinstalling/installing the shows and then you're off for a couple months. I think it really brings a lot to my own work in all kinds of ways. I work alongside Tim Sullivan, Josh Pieper and James Chronister, all of whom are fantastic artists as well. We get the job done while talking shop and cracking each other up. It's also pretty cool to get to see what a Warhol looks from behind and figure out the best way to pack a Kiki Smith sculpture for transport.

Also, I think FF readers would love the current Arthur Szyk show up at the Jewish Museum. It's really incredible.

John Felix Arnold III’s Pilgrimmage has taken over the Shooting Gallery. Opening last Friday, this glimpse into his world of Unstoppable Tomorrow has finally allowed us here in San Francisco to see our future past. Moving on from his recent show The Scourge in NYC, Arnold has let us see the work of the survivors of the apocalypse, generating creation and growth from immense destruction and chaos. I got a chance to sit down with Arnold, gallery owner Justin Giarla and Paxton Gate buyer Michael Levy (who graciously donated materials) before the show was hung, and will be posting the in-depth interview to the site in as soon as possible. In the mean time, get over to the Shooting Gallery as soon as you can to see this show. The panels glow in a way that I couldn’t have guessed and they warm the space and your viewing experience. You’ve got to experience the warthog, moped, panels and sound installation in person. If you don’t survive the apocalypse, this might be your only chance.

Helen Bayly (SF) also brought a little feminine touch to the gallery with the opening of Give Me What I Can’t Have in the project space. Balancing the raw materials of Arnold’s work, she has created paintings of beautiful young people and flowers covered in gold-leafed text, complete with walls that seem to be dripping in the luxurious and decadent setting in which these works are situated. Complete with foul language, these works speak to a sense of debauchery that may lead to the apocalypse to which Arnold is warning us of.

Stay tuned for the making of The Pilgrimmage, an interview examining a very unique local collaboration between artist, gallerist and buyer of all things curious. It’s an illuminating window onto the process of creating a show like this – a process which should be continued with others in the future.

Every city has them but some more than others. I used to live on Powell Street many years back and would often resort to just walking in the street opposed to battling sidewalk space with the clumsy toddler minded tourist bumping up and down the sidewalks.

Here in San Francisco a portion of the Hotel Tax goes towards funding the arts. So remember that when irritated by the map wielding/ bike renting/ Fisherman's Wharf bound T-Dogs. High five them and remember that everyone's a tourist at some point.

I guess I would tell someone I primarily work on paper, prefferibly stretched over panels. I use a wide range of mediums, gouache, enamel, oil, etc. My imagery derives from various interests I have, drug/alcohol consumption, Suburbia, and Santeria to name a few.

Jazz, Giorgio Morandi, James Bond, the Lost Bros familia, my dog Bubba Gucci, but my biggest influence has got to be my father. Hardest working man I know.

Haven't done much traveling, but I recently visited New York for the first time last summer and was pretty stoked on it.

I try an work either early in the morning, but I usually end up working on things late at night shackled in my atelier listening to some jazz or oldies. You know, that Art Laboe shit.

Identical twin brothers How and Nosm (Raoul and Davide Perre) recently completed this huge mural in the TL here in San Francisco at Hyde St & Turk St. The duo were born in Spain, German in heritage, and currently residing in New York. Their show Late Confessions concludes Saturday in NYC at Jonathan Levine.

Check this awesome mural they did in LA with Dabs and Myla 2 years ago.

John moved to San Francisco to pursue skateboarding and art. The website would go on to spread art across 50,000 unique visitors a day and inspire generations on how you can adapt to do what you love on your own terms.

Fecal Face celebrated it's 10 Year anniversary at The Luggage Store Gallery, a location he had been inspired by as a young art fan in San Francisco. In this episode we follow John as prepare for the blowout group show and reflect on the website's past and future."

I am more than honored to be included in the 2nd season of the series, The Creative Lives, featuring a slew of talented folks like Barry McGee, Jeremy Fish, Richard Coleman, Futura, Mike Giant, Cleon Peterson, Tiffany Bozic, The Date Farmers, and so many others.

When I first encountered Brooklyn artist Benjamin Edmiston's work it was truly refreshing. I'm immediately drawn to his use of flattened space, characters, finish and palette. I notice similarities of my own studio practice within the paintings so I also feel a connection to the artist's process.

Whether or not it is intentional, I also notice traces from some of my other favorite artists like Matthew Palladino, Richard Coleman and a few others, but Ben's work is definitely unique in its own right. The paintings are stunning in person and his latest collection at The Infantree titled, Talking Shop, marks his first solo exhibition.

Michael Hsiung continues blogging his travels for Color Magazine's traveling skate-centric art shows up and down the west coast. This time the journey starts off with them leaving Escapist in Kansas City, MO and then heading to Austin, TX to meet up with Sieben and the guys from No Comply. We do some skating at the ditch, installing, visit Okay Mountain, have the opening, skate Alien Pond and then start our drive back.

It's November. Mercury is in retrograde. Giants won the World Series, Obama won the president race, US drones are getting shot out of the sky, stores are ready to sell you EVERYTHING for Black Friday sales, and I don't think Santa is bringing me anything for Christmas this year. Whew, but back to Free Fridayz. Last week there was a decent turnout of drawings but not that many votes, which led to a tie. Which led to an official tie breaking decision by me. The winner of last weeks Free Fridayz goes to #16 by Solange who has won themselves a TShirt by Mel Kadel. It was a nice drawing and quite witty. Way to go.

There are some pretty nice entries this week. I had to keep a few out because they weren't in .jpeg format, didn't go with the theme or lacked blood, sweat and tears. Free Fridayz is transcending to the next dimension. To go where no drawing has gone before, which makes me think about space tourism. Over here in SF, the tourists are a bunch of bobble heads that block the sidewalk staring at food menus and store front pastries. Crowding shopping malls in their last chance to get a pair of denim. And they are all photographers now. A bunch of Ansel Adams. I pray to the Universe that if we ever have space tourism in this life-time, that these tourists travel with much more dignity and respect to the culture and places they visit or perhaps just start now. -Joe

Hey. My name is Ana Ferraz and I’m a new contributor from São Paulo here at Fecal Face. I run a gallery called Fita Tape, in Porto Alegre, southern region of Brazil, together with my husband Lucas Ribeiro “Pexão”. We are currently showing a solo exhibition by Rimon Guimarães, one of our favorite young artists from Brazil. Friend and FF contributor Tristan Rault is also showing the artist at his gallery in Buenos Aires, Argentina, so I think it’s the perfect moment to introduce you to the work of Rimon. Rimon is a young and talented artist from Curitiba, Brazil. His artwork often shows organic traces, hybrid forms and bold characters in a beautiful and unique style. Rimon’s first interests on art came from comic books/manga and graffiti, but now he also seeks influences on primitive art, Maya culture and botanic illustrators, such as Ferdnad Bauer and Ernest Haeckel. “I’m influenced by everything around me. I’m hyper sensible, that’s why I like to have a great contact with nature. Nature organization is a huge influence”, he says. Rim’s works can be seen in the streets and in exhibitions, as the solo “Madrugada” (2007), Polinesia gallery and Laboratório Objeto Escarlate, Espaço +SOMA (2010), in Sao Paulo; “Voluvel” (2008) together with Pjota at the Parana’s MAC, in Curitiba; the group shows TRANSFER (2008 and 2010, in Porto Alegre and São Paulo) and Art Trek 7 (2010, Belgium) and currently in two solo exhibitions, Maré Plena, Fita Tape gallery (Porto Alegre) and Descalzo, |/_ gallery (Buenos Aires). As an artist, Rimon is also member of the Interlux collective, a group of friends/artists/musicians/philosophers/activists who promote actions related to the urban space, with a situationist inspiration. Interlux actions create an atmosphere that involves and engage other people, in unusual performances. “Our first actions seemed like crazy parties”, he explains. Besides Interlux, he works along three friends on Banzai Studio, a multidisciplinary creative studio, mixing commercial and personal projects on motion design, illustration, film, graffiti, and so on. With Banzai, Rim worked with clients as MTV, Listen Skateboards and Pernod Ricard. He also had a Nike SB limited shoe, together with the skateboarder Rodrigo Petersen, and works closely with the up and coming Brazilian skateboard shoes brand Öus.

(photo: Biller) I don't think they had seen a woman in months, so needless to say Manon took some harassment. Here one guy gave her the gift of a shirt but said she had to switch it with hers. That's about when we asked to be taken back to our boats.

Back in August I attended The Gathering of the Juggalos in southern Illinois. During The Gathering I heard mention of an "incident," which resulted in the total destruction of a person's car. I went to check it out, and found a small group taking turns bashing the wreck with sticks and rocks or stripping parts off. While I was watching I asked around and about the story.

Apparently the car belonged to a guy who had been stealing from people camping in the surrounding area. He got busted, with a car full of people's laptops, cell phones, wallets, etc. He literally got beaten all the way to the exit, where security rescued him and sent him away in an ambulance (one version of the story had him getting life-flighted). People then turned their rage on his car and personal belongings, repeatedly shouting "This is what happens when you steal from Family!" The final twist in the story? The car itself was stolen... from the guy's now ex-girlfriend.

To finish off the saga, and prevent people from continuing to repeatedly try and burn the car (there was a burn ban in place), they dragged the heap past the front of the main stage before ICP's set, as a reminder of what happens when you steal from Family. -Tod Seelie

SAN FRANCISCO --- Swung through Ferris Plock's studio yesterday to have a quick look-see at this newest body of work which goes on display at The Shooting Gallery with the opening of the solo show Unrest scheduled for Saturday, Dec 14th. PICS

Heavily influenced by Japanese woodblocks of the Edo period, Plock will show 20-25 new character portraits featuring imagery of knights with neighborhood-specific armor and flags, all painted with acrylic, house paint, gouache and gold leaf on panel.

If the last few months of 2011 were as action packed for you as they were for us, then you're probably itching for a vacation as badly as we are.... Now that 2012 has taken shape and the New Years bubbly is but a distant, albeit flat memory, we're looking ahead to warmer days and colder beverages and the anticipation of sand between our toes. Yeah, I know, it's only March and it's fixing to rain but desire is a substantive force. Seasonal obstacles withstanding, I find I can always fall back on those transportive, time-and-place flavors as a suitable stand-in until opportunity presents for the real thing.

So, in the spirit of vacations yet to be, enjoy the taste of someplace more a little warmer, a little bubblier and with a satisfying bite end the end... it may sound like hyperbole, but I assure you it's not.

HOMEMADE GINGER BEER:

• 1-2 large fresh ginger roots: grated, chopped or sliced fine
• 2 cups of fine granulated sugar
• 1 gallon of bottled spring water
• 1 1/2 teaspoons of bread yeast
• 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
• juice from one fresh lemon and/or lime

Equipment: 1 gallon plastic water jug, food processor (optional).

1. Wash and dry the ginger root. If you have a food processor, use it to puree the root to fine pulp. If you don't have a processor, use a cheese grater to grate the root or chop with a knife as finely as you can.

The goal is to get the ginger bits small enough that the juice will release when boiled.

My work mainly consists of mixed media drawings and paintings of nonsensical figures/environments. A lot of it is about mankind's relationship to Nature, in both physical and metaphysical realms. Recently I've also been making animations and sculptures that deal with similar narratives.

My biggest inspiration is the natural world; what separates man from animal, and how have we evolved to conceptualize and comprehend our own existence as independent entities from the world around us. Mythology, philosophy, religious iconography, and cultural practices all play a part in the narrative of my work. Visual influnences include the Northern Renaissance period, Greek and Roman antiquity, fauvism, Christopher Davison, Picasso, Allison Shulnik, Jan Švankmajer, Dasha Shiskin, Dürer, Lucas Cranach the Elder, and countless others. Influences really come from everything.

I basically lock myself in my studio and pretty much just do whatever I want, no rules. I make myself be stay productive and use my work as exploration of new ideas. I'm always looking for that next image or theme to expand on or experiment with. In the studio I listen to everything from the Black Angels to Panda Bear to Om. I make work around my job schedule, so it all kind of depends.

I run my own screen printing company and fill in some hours at a library, which also serves as an endless resource of history and imagery. I also have some potential teaching opportunities in the near future.

Giant's words on the show: I started to look at modern tattoo designs as well as corporate and band logos as "modern hieroglyphics". I thought a lot about how the symbols of our time would be objectively translated by future generations. And instead of trying to explain it, I made drawings to codify the symbolic language of our time for future observers to translate for themselves. -Mike Giant

I made lots of drawings on 11x14" sheets of drawing paper. The subject matter is mostly tattoo designs with some corporate and band logos thrown in for good measure. I will also be showing some silk-screened editions and I hope to set up a slide show.

I spent the New Years with my friend Lina who was visiting from Amsterdam. We partied, walked around a lot and made some art. It was a great way to start the year.

We just debuted our Fall collection at the Agenda trade show where I walked around in an LAPD uniform, keeping guard on a squad car I tagged all over. It was really fun. Tomorrow Joshy and I are headed to Colorado for an industry party and some clean air.

Our friend Alex Ziv has finally let us see what he’s been working on holed up in his SFAI studio for the last two years with his new solo show at the debut of The League Gallery in Berkeley. Tucked away in an industrial building, League Gallery provided the perfect space for Ziv’s larger works, displayed for the first time publicly. The show is incredibly clean and upholds the standard of his almost perfectly executed paintings (PHOTOS).

Propelling forward from his earlier smaller works using motorcycle motifs, Ziv has really expanded his repertoire with this new body of work. The symbols no longer read as flat signs floating in space but are instead inextricably connected with the rest of the figures and words within the work. The drop-shadows, detailed wood and folded curtains really put it over the top for me, and I highly suggest a trip out to the East Bay to see this work when you can. Congrats, Ziv, on the really great show, can’t wait to see what’s next.

On the eve of New Image Art's 15 year anniversary show, Jeff Soto interviews Marsea, the founder and curator, about the gallery's unique past and its future.

Last Thursday, we went down to Newport to catch Artist Ed Templeton’s talk with Juxtapoz magazine co-founders Greg Escalante and CR Stecyk III, moderated by Joseph Dugan at the Orange County Museum of Art (OCMA). Director Kevin Barnett aslo presented some footage from his upcoming documentary, Primer, featuring Ed Templeton. Following the panel, Ed signed some copies of his books Deformer andThe Cemetery of Reason while some of us dined at the taco truck. We would have caught the film at the beginning, but we were caught in some brutal traffic. Driving time 1:45 minutes. ~CHECK SOME PHOTOS

In October 2005, just a few months after we had our first daughter, I leased an industrial space near our small apartment. It was a pretty big decision for Jennifer and I, it was another bill (several) and another responsibility for us- already under pressure with a two month old baby!

It ended up being the right move- I'd been working on our kitchen table or driving across town to work in my parent's garage. We had moved into a two room apartment but there was still no room to work. I found a nice 1000 sq/ft industrial warehouse type shop with a small office in front. I got the idea from seeing the Clayton Brother's studio a few years before. The place was big enough, versatile and had plenty of storage space, with large walls, a roll up door and high ceilings. It was perfect, and I got right to work.

I'm a little sad to leave when I look back at all the exhibits and paintings I worked on at this space, not to mention how my life has changed the past six years. It's been a pretty cool/strange/awesomely/fucked up/rad six years!

Now I've moved into a great new space with friends. The new studio has everything the old one has with more support and camaraderie. Gonna be a new adventure and I'm hoping to get many years of great work accomplished here. But I'll keep in my heart my little studio which helped me get off the ground!!

Our wonderous intern and SFAI student, Alex Uhrich, traveled off to the Lone Star state for beers and musical enhancements. Loaded with our trusty Olympus Stylus Epic he brought back these photos with an edition of word sounds.

After 36-hour ordeal trying to escape San Francisco for South by Southwest, I finally made it into Austin. I caught a bus downtown to meet up with some friends and started making my way east. It was pretty much instantly a shit storm of activity, drunk girls stumbling everywhere, music blaring from every bar, and people generally having a good time. I made it to my first show, which was a Burger Records showcase at a small record store called Trailerspace. We started in on the free beer and watched some awesome bands play, both overlying themes of my trip. My friends Pangea, who I spent most of my time down south with, killed it. ~READ ON

We had big turn out this week for Talking Heads. The drawings look AWESOME. I don't have a binder full of women. If I did, they'd be aging in a box at a dusty storage unit having lesbian sex together. Thanks for all of you that format your drawings to file, size and make it presentable. The stakes are about to get raised for the next sessions. Things been a bit lenient for this first phase of FF. Some of you are new to the game. Drawings have to display efforts according to the theme. Gotta see the words Fecal Face (FF) and have a level of presentation and be sent as a jpg. Just a little cooperation makes my job easier. I like easy, just like you. And it's always nice when you all include your city, state, planet to represent. See the guidelines below.

So sad also about the galleries in Chelsea that had extensive water damage. We asked a friend recently about the situation and commented how lucky that the galleries are insured and will cover their losses when he responded, "they don't have flood insurance. Insurance won't cover a thing." Ugh... Well, we hope they all get back on their feet quickly. Here's a somewhat recent news video story here.

San Francisco artist Kevin Taylor introduced us to the work of Jay Bo who lives and works in Berlin.

Kevin was there in Berlin a few months back working on a solo show (studio visit pics) and thought we'd like Jay Bo's paintings. Well, we do and wanted to share them with you.

My work is about visual fragmentation. About rebuilding. I follow paradoxical ideas at the edge of the legacy of romantism. A touch of insanity, a dance between rational and irrational, I just try to escape reality. I considere myself an abstract painter, playing with the contrast between hyperrealism and expressionism. I try to marry the two. By the way this is not a question I can answer, as my answer is the piece itself.

I am perpetually influenced by everything, my work is based on layers, as our memories are. The raster made out of thoses bring me to new horizons. That's why I am not only influenced by the old paint masters but also on the multiple failures of mankind. by the nature, by your questioning as well as by the silence in the morning, by the words of poets, and by the screams of Earth.

Definitly both but self made.

Well the next one. I am interessted in the concept of traveling not in places. And this has to be contrasted, I like to observe confrontation. Visual opposition. I am walking the same ways over and over and I find something unseen everyday. I am an observer and I need therefore more time on a new place to understand it. Africa have left a big influence on my acceptance of chaos.

Yes which is the hard part. Discipline never has be my friend.

For the 4th we sailed over to Angel Island, spent a few days enjoying the hot Marin air, BBQing it up w/ friends, and watching the fireworks from it... A warm clear evening and you could view both of San Francisco's fireworks and also Sausalito's as well... That is a damn fine island.
