| Portland based artist and Pittsburgh Steelers fan Andy Kehoe recently paid a visit to Los Angeles for his second solo show at Thinkspace Gallery. |
Also opening that night were talented SF artist and professional skateboarderJesse Hotchkiss's Learning to Fall (Project Room) and Melbourne Duo Dabs Myla's Earthquake Weather. Although Los Angeles experienced some rare rainy weekend weather, the troops made it out in full force to support these artists.
On a side note, you can also read an interview with each artist, courtesy of Thinkspace: Kehoe, Hotchkiss, and Dabs Myla. The show runs from December 11th, 2009 through January 2nd, 2010. Thinkspace Art Gallery 4210 Santa Monica Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90029

Andy flew down to LA from Tuesday and stayed through Sunday for his second solo show at Thinkspace Gallery. During his time here we managed to fit in a few extracurricular activities, such as eating at In N Out (which he's never had), watching the Steelers game and eating wings, and finally video game dorking out.

Andy kicking Robert's ass in Mortal Kombat with his customized "Dangerguy." Beware. On the right is my Freddie Mercury guy in red leather. He's fierce . . yeah we stayed up one night to about 2:30 in the morning pushing buttons and creating guys. Ha-ha.

Unusually rainy weather brought out the umbrellas . . . I thought it only rained fake boobs in LA.

Here's some photos from the show

Ode to Tim Conway. The last time Andy was here I made him put up with my lame antics. And to quote that Whitesnake song, "Here I go again on my own."

In the project room upstairs from the main gallery, Thinkspace featured Leaving to fall by Artist Jesse Hotchkiss. His paintings on wood were really really nice. He combines intricate stenciled images and subtle textures, portraying moments of dreamlike intimacy, both visually foreign and familiar.

On the adjacent wall, Fresh Faces Wall, Melbourne artists Dabys Myla had this really clean and beautifully painted mural. The duo’s work has shown the world over including such high profile shows as this November’s ‘Golden Age’ show in downtown Los Angeles as well as the recent Green Day 21st Century Breakdown show that took place in the UK at Stolen Space and was curated by fellow artist Logan Hicks.

After the show we went off to have some drinks at this bar to celebrate. They have some free popcorn and strong drinks.

Rachel and Andy posing in front of our old couch. Andy had been sleeping on this thing for a week. It's got no cushions and was pretty beat up. Unfortunately, not only did all the rain stop on Sunday, on the day of his flight, but we happened to get a new couch with cushions. Sorry man! {moscomment}
