Brendan hails from Los Angeles. We interviewed him when he had a solo show up at Giant Robot here in SF summer 2005.

>>Basic stats: Age? Location? Problems with laziness? Location?
Age: 25 I'm in Los Angeles. Not really lazy but sometimes easily distracted.

Something else: I'm back and forth between Berkely and LA a lot. My girlfriend lives there.

>>Ultimate project you'd love to be involved with or undertake?
I don't really know. Something big though. It would be really amazing to do some public art, visual or sculptural.

>>when did you first start drawing and making comics. Influences? Do you remember what drove you to start?
I've always drawn off and on since I was young. At some point in high school I got into graffiti and since then I've been trying to be more and more competitive with my work. I used to collect comics, like most kids, but I never really read them. I mostly make comics now to give a more detailed explanation of the art pieces I'm making. I still don't read too many comics.

>>Do you wear the same sort of clothes all the time or do like to switch it up? If so, how did you last "switch it up"?
I kinda of switch it up. I don't get too crazy with paint getting all over my clothes but over time the marks build up. I usually work in comfortable clothes and go out in more presentable clothes. Depends on where I'm going though.

>>How often are you on the computer?
Everyday. But I don't know if that's good.

>>Personally I want to fight wind because it annoys me so much up here in SF. What natural element would you want to fight?
Cold. I'm not much for cold weather. I know it's not really an element. But I like warmer climates. It can get really cold up in SF.

>>Hobbies/ Interests outside of creating art?
I have some interests in plants. I recently discovered the California Cactus Center in Pasadena and now I want to collect suculants. I have a small insect collection too.

>>We've never meet... How could I pick you out at a café?
I have brown hair, brown eyes about 5'10". I get mistaken for being part asian a lot but I am actually half mexican, half white. Sometimes glasses. Maybe kinda normal.

>>What's fine art?
I don't know. I'm trying to figure that out. Maybe some thing or image that someone can connect with in an emotional or intellectual way.

>>What were you like in high school?
I did my my homework and got by. Drink and party on the weekends.

>>Favorite mode of transportation?
That's a toss up between car and skateboard.

>>Fear getting older? If so, why? If not, why?
Not really. I look forward to the future. There is room to grow. I don't think bad things will happen when I get older so why fear it. If they do then thats what happens, no stopping it.

>>What's your favorite drug?
No Drugs. Unless you consider coffee one.

>>Favorite magazine?
I'm not really into magazines.

>>Describe your daily routine?
Usually wake up around 8-9am then have some coffee. Get to work. Usually not painting but email and telephone. Call my girlfriend. Figure out what needs to be done before things close or people go home from work. Run errands. Then after that kind of stuff is done in the afternoon I usually get to painting or sculpting. Then I eat and get kind of tired and take a nap. That happens around 5 or 7pm. Then I wake up and get back to work. More coffee. I'm usually up to about 1 or 2am.

>>There's a lot of nature in your works. I imagine you like to go camping. Where's the best place you've camped?
I do like to go camping. I think one of the nice places I've camped was in the Sequoia Kings park. I like Tom's Place on the way to Mamouth too. There's good trout fishing there.

>>Where's the worst place you've taken a dump?
Lately, maybe the Oakland airport. I felt so cramped in the stall. I could hardly turn arround with my bags in hand, not too clean either. Other times are hard to remember, but I have used a sock to wipe because of lack of paper near by. Once in the ocean too.

>>Weirdest situation you can remember being in?
I don't know. I was in NY last year and I was hanging out with a few guys I knew and some I didn't . After a long night of drinking we were walking to get a cab and this girl said "Hey guys can you walk me home?". Then somehow she ended up going with us back to Brooklyn to my friends place. Some random girl off the street. Then as soon as we got there she broke out with the cocaine. That was pretty wierd and crazy too. I didn't try it.

>>What do you plan on doing later today?
It's late. I've had a few beers. I'm going to sleep.
