Kelsey Brookes guest blogs up a trip to Seattle with RVCA clothing for some live in store painting.
I hooked up with RVCA a few months ago. I didn't tell anyone because I didn't want to jinks the relationship….kind of like when you meet a rad chick and you don't want to fuck it up by telling everyone you know you hooked up with her last night because if she finds out you have been telling everyone she will definitely dump you for being a spastic creep. Anyway we're together now and we're like totally happy... Anyway here is what RVCA had to say about the Washington trip they had planned for Rich Jacobs, Matt Gordon and I.

"Rich Jacobs, Matt Gordon and Kelsey Brookes come aboard this RVCA Artist Network Program (ANP) trip to share three very different styles of art with the fine residents of Seattle Washington." "Working in conjunction with local sport/ boutique, Snowboard Connection, the three artists will be able to bring the message of RVCA and their artistic talents to a broader reach in the United States, specifically the NW USA."

This is the first thing you do on a painting trip, raid the local hardware store for extra latex paint. The guy in the foreground is Matt Gordon and behind him is Rich Jacobes...self checkout is such a joke.

Seattle's own version of Wal-Mart...

This van is apparently owned by a very arty, sci-fi loving child molester…or just a really interesting doode. Never figured it out….it kicked ass either way.

This is the kind of stuff you do when you have an entire night on your hands in the nicest hotel you have ever stayed in. First time in a robe.

Nothing to do in a new city....getting drunk is always a good option.

My buddy Spencer taught us how to make our very own porn star name. You take the name of the first pet you have ever owned and the name of the first street you ever lived on, combine the two and that's it. Mine was Snoopy Balsam. We spent the rest of the night scrawling our porn star names on buildings.

This was a painting in the bathroom of the hotel we were staying at......never figured out who the artist was but it kicked ass.

There was a shoe polisher in the bathroom too. I'm pretty sure I saw this thing in the in-flight magazine on the plane up to Seattle….did absolutely nothing for my high-tops.

Rich and Matt the next morning. Rich has never had a drink or done any drugs in his life. This explains his energy so early in the morning.

These happy shiny people are Alison and Jasen. They are the RVCA reps for the Pacific North West and are the nicest people I have ever meet......no shit. They took great care of us while we were there....thanks so much guys.

Had a little tour of the pionere square area before we got back to work.

First Starbucks ever.

Pioneer square is full of people selling all manner of junk...organic soap, blueberry vinegar, fish and art. This guy's name was John Strongbow and his art was brilliant….loved the shit out of it. This is the only photo I got of his work though...he yelled at me for taking it.

Back to work on the painting. With a little help form our adopted Japanese tourist friend.

Rich's brother is from the Seattle area. He stopped by with his kids and we invited them to add a little flare to the piece. This is Rich's nephew Brett sharing some very sage wisdom.

We painted a couple individual panels for some other shops in the area.....this is my panel.

This is pretty much the entire crew plus a few extras....final dinner.

Flying into San Diego is rad...you skim right over the tall downtown buildings and my house....nice to leave, but also nice to come home....many, many thanks to Jasen, Alison and RVCA for such a great trip. {moscomment}
