Meeting the man who created some of my favorite films and sailing to Angel Island a few times.

I was leaving Ritual the other day when I heard this tiny voice say, "hey mister, I like you're hat"... i turned around to find this mini me.

Sorry kid, you're not going to grow up to look any better.

Then it was off to see Francis Ford Coppola peddle his wares... wine, food, and exotic resorts that I could never afford to stay at but would love to.

It was kind of odd to see the director of some of the best in American cinema sit up there doing some gags in hopes to win over the leaders of SF restaurant peoples... I mean, the guy wrote and directed The Godfather and Apocalypse Now!! He gave a smart presentation on why he loves food and wine and vacation spots with some insight into his directing career... with lots of free wine and food.

We got to meet Francis Ford Coppola!

Thanks, Jimmy!... The only problem was that Francis's wine gave us a tought hang over. Ouch.

Then for some bowling in the building behind.

What's up, Isaac.

and Kate

Who rides a motorcycle.

Went and checked out my favorite band Electrelane who, good for them, got hooked up with the Arcade Fire, but, bad for us, because they played this mega place and we were so far away from them. :(

Arcade Fire

Happy birthday to Richard.

Who's the one with the bow tie.

and the next morning we started our biggest journey to date... Instead of waiting 6 months to get a reservation to camp on Angel Island, which sits in the SF bay, we sailed out... slept on the boat... and remember, wanna join the fun? We got our 25 foot sailboat for only $850. Get one and teach yourself how to sail... The internet is good for that stuff.

It was foggy in the morning as we made our way over there... Being this was our first time in the slot (from the Golden Gate bridge to Berkeley) we motored over to get a feel... It gets pretty windy in the afternoon... We made our way through at noon just before the summer sea breeze kicks up.

The Golden Gate bridge

and we made it. The sun lifted and beers were cracked.

You tie (moore) right out in the water. We have a little inflatable raft that we use to get to shore.

Angel Island is fucking nice.

5 miles around and a lot of crusty buildings to explore and deer that love to run right in front of you.

Glad we weren't in SF that weekend. Looked foggy shitty.

Check out this little fella.

Our boat's down there.

after the ferries left, we had the place to ourselves.

Loads of deer.

Don't mind if we do.

creepy night hiking

old civil war buildings

Which, in the morning, aren't so creepy.

and back home

we just followed this guy through the shipping lanes as we were new to them in this part of the bay.

the map helps.

Check out this guy's weird house boat... If you're ever in Sausalito, walk around the house boats. They're cool.

bike rides

and storm jibs

Russel teaches us some weather stuffs.

and we checked in on Tiffany's bird, kitty.

and back out to sea.

and this weekend we sailed into the slot passed the SF city front.

Alcatraz

And as the wind kicked up, we lunched at Angel Island again.

and ran into these fine folks

And then back home. We left Angel Island at like 7:30pm. There was no moon, so we were in for some dark as shit sailing...

beautiful out there.

Oh, and sailing isn't expensive by the way. Here's a boat on craigslist that's being given away FOR FREE!
Gotta watch it for a minute, but check out this dude!
