Maya Hayuk and MOMO went to Madrid, for a project with Nano and San, organized by Madrid gallery, Subaquatica.
We got this email below from MOMO about going on a trip with one of our favorite artists, Maya Hayuk.
"MOMO here. I'm traveling to Spain with Maya Hayuk to create a project in downtown Madrid with Nano4814, and San, organized by Subaquatica. I fucking love the Spanish scene and would like to send some of that back home. We could be running into Zosen and El Tono. I'll be in Barcelona briefly also."

Spain is amazing - This is the hiway from the international airport. Its completely bombed. All the hiways I saw were like this.

This is the super-studio he's building with Nano, Remed, 3ttman, Spok, and Luciano... The building feels like its 500 years old, in the center of Madrid.
Our project was to make murals on a double decker bus while it rolled around Madrid.
The Mindblowing Wandering Unit toured 4 days collecting paint and wheatpaste. Subaquatica's info is here.
A television crew came by from Channel 4s' Cuatrofera. One question was "should there be a school for graffiti or should it be learned in the streets?" Maya said there should be graffiti doctors. I couldn't think of anything to say, as usual.
We were able to see a Favela from Eltono and Nuria, installed in Alcobendas as a part of a month-long outdoor-art exhibition.

Here I get past the US - Euro electric plug problem with something I learned in Jamaica.
"Botellon" is drinking outside. Its done by everyone, not just winos. And it rules. The public makes its own nightlife, freely mix, go where they like, there's fresh air, and the occasional fire is permitted.
These folks organized 2 buckets of Sangria. Botellon is under some pressure now from police. Locals say the crack-down is just temporary move, for upcoming elections, but there is also talk of the way Barcelona recently shut down with 0% tolerance laws, based on Guliani's success in New York. If Madrid is becoming the new Barcelona, it might be doomed the same way... I can't stop thinking about that.

My hotel room
A loose chalky paint called "cal" is used all over the Mediterranean (think of the white-washed Greek islands). Its impossible to poster on, because it just comes loose. I didn't think this was cal (its red!?) - you can see it coming off in my paste, & all over the whites.
Remed pulled this still-life out of his pocket - just one borrowed key for a place to crash, a couple coins for cash and two caps.) He's on his way to Sao Paulo.
On my last day 3TTman, Remed, Zosen Eltono and myself went to paint on illegally placed posters. Maya was prepping her show for that night. Paint on posters is something they do often, with an understanding between poster crews and cops. 3TTman wants to see the the imagery recycled.
But this afternoon was Saturday and as night came on, it was time to police el botellon. In the this same neighborhood the weekend before we arrived there were riots over the the issue. Still, they said we could return to paint tomorrow.
Immediately afterwards- its was Maya's opening at Subaquatica- and a birthday party for Nano. Wasted at 4 in the morning: I had to find a cab to make my flight to Manchester for a project with Rottenrow Workshop...
I have to include this somewhere, I'm not sure how it fits into the narrative, but of course it does. {moscomment}
