Michael Sieben heads over to NYC for the Volcomics show at the Fuse Gallery.
VOLCOMICS NYC May 19th 2007 Fuse Gallery
Hello, hello. So these pictures are all from the Volcomics book release in NYC. You can read more about the show here.
Many thanks to the Volcom Art Loft for making the comic book and the art show(s) happen. You guys are totally not turdy.

Here's what the cover of the comic book looks like. (Jim Phillips and Matt French)

And here's what the back of the comic book looks like. (My boy Travis Millard.) (Travis isn't actually my son, I mean "boy" more like homeboy.) (I don't mean homeboy like gangster... I just mean we're friends and we hug each other sometimes.)

This is what a car looks like when you paint it pink. I think it would be funny to buy a canoe and paint it pink. Because I'm immature.

Dude, nature ruins everything.

I have almost this many bikes in my garage. I even have bikes in other people's garages. Right Lee?

Big ups to the cups.

Every time we go to NYC we go to that bar that has all the skater boys in it. You know the one, right?

Dog on a pole.

Dog in a shirt.

Hotel tourist shot.

Most people have names.

My name is Mike Aho.

I've heard that Ozzie Wright surfs better than I do. I'm inclined to believe that since I don't know how to surf.

Original drawings from the comic book.

Kill Pixie. That's not a request. That's a name.

Huge hand printed 12 color silk screen by Phillips and French. These things are selling for $100. Contact the Volcom Art Loft for information. And check out their photos on their blog too. I mean, if you want. No pressure. -Volcom Art Loft.

Lots of that rad Phillips detail work.

Never Forget Slimeballs.

Y'all ready to party?

I made Todd do this.

Aho and Carlo McCormick

The Ladiessssss

Mancub was there. Seriously.

Sam DeLaRosa even showed up. I'm not kidding.

Bratrud and Becks

Kevin much much later in the evening.

We thought the weird smell outside of the gallery might have been coming from Aho's bag. It wasn't though.

Steve Stratton and Mo'Nique (are dating?)

Sorry.

These last few photos (and captions) were sent to me by Travis Millard. "I'm not sure if you saw it, ... but some dude hung a napkin doodle over your name tag at the beginning of the show, ...i snapped a flick... it says: "Einstein Alcohol Bridge (Time Traveling)"

Here's a good one of Al and Damian, (editor's note: Damian totally let us stay at his apartment for a few days before the show. Thanks Damian. Tell Bob we said hi.)

...this is Mel and her brother Greg....

and here's you smirkin funny with Carlo...

And this last image is a little drawing Travis and I did while we were hugging.
So that's all I have. After I got home I realized that I hadn't really taken very many interesting photos. Everything looked pretty predictable. I apologize for that. But I hope you were at least mildly entertained looking at this stuff. The next Volcomics show is going to be in London on June 28th. If I come back from that show without any gold then I'm firing myself.
This is totally unrelated to the show, but I thought I'd use this space to show you guys this. Last month I wrote an article for Thrasher about tattoos.

Here's what it looked like. Hopefully you can read the text that small.

Holy Sheet!

Are you kidding me? Freaking Awesome!

Wait, did they change the butthole to a pair of catballs? Hah hah...
I was just stoked to see these things popping up and wanted to share them. Oh, and I'm also totally a self promoter so I thought I'd try to overshadow everybody at the end of the blog. Go Me! {moscomment}
